This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.The purpose of this study is to collect and preserve samples of blood and liver tissue from patients with liver disease to be used in future research studies. The purpose of future studies using these samples will be to develop new methods for diagnosing chronic liver diseases and their complications, to develop new markers for disease severity, and to identify new viruses associated with acute and chronic liver diseases.
