Quantitative High Throughput Screening of Environmental Chemicals. The interagency agreement between NIEHS and NCTT/ NCATS is intended to support on-going and anticipated studies to be conducted by NCTT/ NCATS on the evaluation of high throughput screening (HTS) assays as a part of the NTP HTS Initiative. It is anticipated that batteries of HTS assays will be identified that will allow for substances which lack needed toxicological data to be prioritized for further investigation and for predictive models for in vivo biological response to be developed. Ultimately, the use of HTS assays will greatly increase testing throughput and decrease the cost of testing potentially toxic compounds.
