This core, led by Dr. James Herndon, will administer and oversee the budgets of the individual projects andother cores of the program project grant (PPG). This will be done with the assistance of a full timeadministrative assistant. The core also will be responsible for maintaining communication and scientificcoordination of the projects through regular meetings. In addition, the core will have responsibility forstorage and analysis of data on a project-wide basis.
The specific aims of the Administrative Core are to:(1) Oversee the scientific progress and assure that the progress of the individual projects is coordinated, (2)Organize and maintain monthly meetings of the project staff, (3) Organize a meeting with an externaladvisory panel, (4) Establish a centralized, web-based relational database for the PPG and provideprogramming support for the touch-screen-based computer testing systems, (5) Provide oversight for theanalysis of data when results from different projects are to be linked, and provide statistical advice forindividual projects and cores, (6) Develop and implement a plan for data sharing of the results of the PPG,including the publication of a volume of chapters describing the results and indicating how data can beobtained by other investigators, as required by NIH. These support functions are essential to the smoothfunctioning of the overall project.
