This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The Administrative core is the component of the grant that will facilitate all aspects of the program and provide guidance in the science projects, training and outreach programs, as well as coordination of all core facilities. The Administrative Core will oversee four to five research projects having the common general theme of oral microbial biofilms. The Core administration will monitor the progress of the junior investigators who are investigators of the individual projects, improve the research infrastructure of the College of Dentistry by providing guidance in the upgrading of selected Core facilities and coordinate training programs for faculty, undergraduate students and dental students. An excellent panel of External Advisory committee, which has strong connections to biofilm research, has been assembled to oversee the COBRE.
