Facilitate the development of successful investigator-initiated programs of research through individualand group mentoring, critiquing, and editorial services for proposal and manuscript development. We will achieve this aim by disseminating information about funding mechanisms related to end-oflifeand palliative care, using email and Website and conducting forums (e.g., roundtables, mockreviews, think tanks, writing groups, mentors, conferences, continuing education) for motivating andinspiring investigator exchanges and consultations related to growing and disseminating thescience of end of life.2. Link novice investigators with available resources (people, technology, programs) within UIC and theUIC College of Nursing that will facilitate their successful development as independent researchers. We will achieve this aim by expanding the multiethnic resource base within the CRRVP-developedlibrary of instruments and linking the information from advisory boards or groups in the form ofwritten recruitment and retention guides for studies with people facing the end-of-life transition.
