Using secondary analysis of existing data, this project will examine the epidemiology of violence among treated and untreated community residents with and without mental disorder (ECA surveys), compared to a clinical sample from a currently funded study (MH40314, S. Estroff, PI). The analyses will focus on social network variables as well as childhood risk factors that may affect the relationship between severe mental illness, substance abuse, and violence in adults.
