This award to Indiana University is from the Chemistry Division and the Division of materials Research and in the Mathematical and Physical Sciences. The award provides partial support for the Eighth International Conference on Quasi-Elastic Neutron Scattering (QENS2006) to be held in Bloomington, Indiana, in June 14-17, 2006. The conference is organized by the Low Energy Neutron Scattering (LENS) group at Indiana University Cyclotron Facility. The QENS2006 conference will cover all aspects of quasi-elastic neutron scattering in fields ranging from physics to biology, as well as applications, instrumentation, theory and complementary techniques. The conference includes invited and contributed talks by lead US and international scientists in inelastic neutron scattering. It will contribute to grow the user community of the nations premier neutron facilities at the Spallation Neutron Source and at Center for High Resolution Neutron Scattering at NIST. The funds from the National Science foundation will be used for supporting limited number of travel grants to students and postdocs. The funds will contribute towards broadening participation of underrepresented minority groups in neutron science. Availability of travel support is being advertised on the QENS2006 workshop website at and through contacts with minority physics societies such as the National Society of Black Physicists and the National Society of Hispanic Physicists.
