This award is funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Public Law 111-5).

Funds from this grant will support the acquisition of a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and ancillary sample preparation equipment at the Paleontological Research Institute (PRI). The SEM will support PRI research scientist taxonomic and evolutionary studies of invertebrate microfossils and fossil bivalves and will support public education and outreach activities at PRI. PRI has one of the most significant research collections of fossils and microfossils in North America. Fossil microphotos will be made available through an existing online catalog.
