This award supports a planning visit between Dr. Wujian Miao in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Southern Mississippi and Dr. Milka Neshkova of the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The projected work is in the area of sensor materials for miniaturization and lab on a chip designs. This project supports reciprocal visits of Dr. Miao to Bulgaria for two weeks and Dr. Neshkova to Mississippi for two weeks. In addition, the proposal funds materials for Dr. Miao's lab and materials for Dr. Neshkova's lab to begin the collaboration. The research proposed here is timely and the PI's have strong and complementary backgrounds. This international planning visit award between a new assistant professor in an EPSCoR state and an established Bulgarian researcher will help to stimulate a synergistic collaboration that will benefit both laboratories.
