OISE-0755796 (Brooks, G.R. - Eckerd College) IRES: Cooperative Investigations of Sub-Tropical Coastal Systems: A Cross-Cultural Perspective for Eckerd College, Xiamen University and Hong Kong Baptist University

Over a three-year period, this International Research Experience for Students (IRES) project will annually provide five U.S. undergraduate students with an eight-week international research experience to conduct comparative studies of sub-tropical coastal systems under anthropogenic pressure. The proposed research builds on recent research, education, and training initiatives developed collaboratively between Eckerd College and the international collaborators, Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) and Xiamen University (XU).

The marine science research will focus on pollutant distribution, pollutant impact on marine biological systems and marine biological systems management. These activities are intended to stimulate future research opportunities for the collaborators. The undergraduate research assistants will broadly disseminate their research finding to scientists, coastal managers, peers and the K-12 community.
