This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This is a NIH funded multi-site study examining the effectiveness of three different antipsychotic medications (risperidone, olanzapine, and molindone) in treating schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorders in children and adolescents. The other sites involved are the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (UNC), Harvard University, and Case Western University. In November of last year, we eliminated the olanzapine randomization arm following a recommendation by the NIMH DSMB. All active subjects are currently randomized to either molindone or risperidone.
