This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.This protocol will determine whether children with spastic hemiplegic CP can tolerate a therapy program consisting of constraint induced therapy. This includes wearing a bivalved cast for 8 hours per day while participating in a program of physical and occupational therapy focusing on improving functional use of the involved extremity.Also, if a constraint induced therapy program in children with hemiplegic CP will result in improved motor skills based on measures of motor control, spasticity, and functional goals as determined by parents.
