The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.In this protocol, the effect of therapy for obstructive sleep apnea independent of changes of weight will be evaluated for its effect on autonomic nervous system activity, endothelial function, lipid profile, blood pressure and inflammatory markers in obese individuals. The hypothesis is that treatment of obstructive sleep apnea will be associated with an improvement in cardiovascular abnormalities such as sympathetic excitation and systemic inflammation, but that these abnormalities will not return to levels seen in lean subjects.
