This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The Bioinformatics cores at UNR and UNLV provide Bioinformatics research resources, services and training to Nevada scientists in the support of existing research programs and for the development of new research programs and grant applications. Support is also provided to the INBRE Genomics and Proteomics cores through data analysis and consultation on both DNA- and protein-based projects including microarray data analysis. Use of the core is encouraged through the preparation and delivery of formal training workshops, tutorials, and classes and informal user training sessions in the areas of sequence-based genomics analyses, mRNA expression analysis, structural genomics and molecular modeling. The INBRE supported the Core Director (0.1 FTE) and 2 support personnel (Associate Directors)The mission of the UNLV bioinformatics core is to accelerate biological research by assisting faculty with the application of computing to solve biological problems. The National Supercomputing Center for Energy and the Environment (NSCEE) on the UNLV campus provided access and computing time on their supercomputers. INBRE provided support for the Core Director (0.1 FTE) and one support person (Postdoc).
