This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The synthesis of enantiomerically pure compounds and the elucidation of the underlying principles of molecular recognition have emerged as increasingly important objectives. The focus of our research programs is the development of new reagents and methodologies for the asymmetric synthesis of biologically and pharmacologically active amine derivatives (amino acids, amino phosphonates, and alkaloids)
