The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Goddard Space Flight Center's Wallops Flight Facility (WFF) and the National Science Foundation (NSF) are jointly funding the Phase II Environmental Site Investigation that will take place at NASA's Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility (CSBF), Palestine, Texas. This includes soil, groundwater, and material sampling and analysis to characterize the presence or absence of a contaminant release. In addition, the Phase II Environmental Site Investigation will address additional requirements as mandated by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. The investigation will be in compliance with the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) Federal Property Regulations to allow the process to continue for the transfer of the CSBF property between NSF and NASA.
