This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The Molecular and Cellular Biology (MCB) Core Laboratory constitutes one of the multi-user core facilities of the RCMI Center for Environmental Health at Jackson State University. The core laboratory has been established as a resource facility to meet the common needs of biomedical researchers in the College of Science, Engineering and Technology (CSET). This laboratory has been equipped with state of the art equipment to foster biomedical research collaborations among RCMI investigators, as well as collaborations among Jackson State university faculty and biomedical scientists from other institutions of higher learning, and national laboratories. The facility is staffed with a faculty manager and a laboratory technician. Over the past nine years, the MCB Core Laboratory has provided opportunities to RCMI investigators to develop the skills and aptitudes needed to become more competitive in biomedical research. The facility currently supports the needs of RCMI investigators and several other faculty members and students within the College of Science, Engineering and Technology. Due to the increased interest in biomedical research by the faculty and students, the facility has been upgraded with additional equipment to provide the necessary resources to conduct environmental health/biomedical research.
