This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. We would like to collect blood and/or buccal samples from pediatric patients with Kawasaki Disease. We would also like to create a respository for these specimens for future research on the genetic basis of Kawasaki Disease. The samples will be used initially to test a specific hypothesis: FCg receptor polymorphisms act as disease modifiers for the severity of KD, and response to intravenous gamma globulin. However, we would retain specimens for future genetic research on the basis and treatment of KD. Patients will be asked to donate blood and provide information about their ethnic background. No other procedures will be done for this research study. The subject s participation will end once the blood has been donated.
