Abstract

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.This study seeks to test the hypothesis that progression of intima-media thickness of the carotid artery will be lower in the valsartan (an angiotensin AT-1 receptor blockade) vs. placebo treatment group.
