This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The purpose of this research study is to collect blood samples from patients with cystic fibrosis (CF) for DNA (genetic) testing. These samples will be stored and used for future medical research. Researchers are interested in studying DNA blood samples from people with CF to determine if other non-CF genes (modifiers) may contribute to CF disease severity or mildness. Identifying modifiers that influence disease severity may ultimately lead to a better understanding of cystic fibrosis, and may be useful in developing new treatment.
