This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. As part of the PI's research program in drug-induced liver injury, protocols GCRC #2122, 2228, 2265 have been designed to further define the natural history and mechanisms os drug-induced liver injury in humans. As a complement to these clinical studies, the investigative team has been developing laboratory-based protocols to learn more about potential mechanisms of injury. A specific example is exploring the effect of acetaminophen on lymphocytes. This proposal seeks permission to enroll a cohort of 30 individuals who are willing to donate blood repeatedly over the course of the study to be used for these in vitro experiments.
