This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The subject is being asked to participate in this research study because he/she has cancer which is not curable by surgery or radiation therapy. In addition, his/her cancer has either grown while on chemotherapy or is likely to grow while on common chemotherapy treatments. This study involves treatment with the chemotherapy drugs: oxaliplatin, 5-fluorouracil, and docetaxel (Taxotere). These drugs have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of a wide variety of cancers; however, the combination is considered experimental. The recommended dose and schedule has yet to be determined when using all three chemotherapy drugs together. The purpose of this research study is to evaluate the effects (good and bad) of the combination of oxaliplatin, 5-fluorouracil, and docetaxel. In addition, the study is to determine the highest dose of docetaxel that can be given safely with oxaliplatin and 5-fluorouracil.
