The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.This study is aimed at characterizing and comparing the three phenotypes of pre-diabetes to age, sex, and body mass index-matched people with normal glucose tolerance. Specifically, people with impaired fasting glucose (IFG), impaired glucose tolerance (IGT), and both (IGT/IFG) will undergo extensive testing of their insulin secretion (via glucose step-up protocol) and insulin action (insulin clamp + stable isotopes) and compared to those with normal glucose tolerance (NGT).
