This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.Individuals with HIV-1 infection demonstrate an increased risk for heart attach. Endothelial cells line blood vessels and help them to dilate and release substances that break down blood clots. A reduction in these functions have been linked to an increased risk of heart attach. The purpose of this study is to determine whether endothelial cell function is reduced in individuals with HIV-1 infection.
