Abstract

This is a randomized, placebo-controlled, double blind crossover trial in 10CF patients of the effects of phynylbutyrate on pulmonary mucociliary clearance (MCC).
The aim i s to quantify and compare the rate of MCC on study drug and placebo. Patients will take a standard dose three times a day for one month separated by a month of washout. Radiotracer MCC, nasal potential differences, and sweat chlorides will be measured.
