This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This cross-sectional study seeks to assess the knowledge level of patients with ESRD on hemodialysis, and to investigate its correlation with demographic variables. Approximately 80 adult ESRD patients on chronic hemodialysis will be recruited from two local ambulatory dialysis centers. Participation includes completion of a questionnaire designed to assess the patient's level of knowledge (including information about kidney transplantation, diet and exercises for general well-being, and relationships with other diseases), as well as satisfaction and involvement with his/her care. GCRC informatics support is requested to assist with data collection, including the creation of scannable forms for data collection/entry and access to statistical analysis software. Biostatistics support will include assistance with power analysis, choice of statistical methods, and the analysis of the final data.
