This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. A personalized clinical experience is designed to allow each of the 3rd year medical students at the University of Iowa to identify their personal risk factors through diagnostic testing which typically accompanies assessment of cardiovascular health. Along with the experience in self-evaluation, they will learn more about life-style factors that are modifiable through dietary and exercise changes. The information they gain from their own evaluation will prepare them for interacting with their patients and increase their empathetic understanding of patients who undergo similar evaluations.
