This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Charcot-Marie-Tooth neuropathy is a common but poorly understood illness that often results in disabling cavovarus foot deformity. Though numerous treatments have been described in the literature, very few reports provide meaningful clinical outcomes and even fewer reports examine long term results of surgical intervention. The goal of this study is to examine the long term outcome of a unique surgical procedure for flexible cavovarus foot deformity in Charcot-Marie-Tooth patients. We will analyze both clinical and radiographic results using standardized and reproducible outcome measures. We will also search for correlation between patient characteristics and outcome to aid in future treatment decisions.
