Specific Aims 1. Determine the time-dependent impact of gastric division on ghrelin release in the morbidly obese patient. 2. Determine whether gastric division with resultant fundic isolation during RYGB would alter the pattern(s) of ghrelin secretion in the early post-operative period following feeding in morbidly obese subjects. 3. Determine the potential role of the fundus in mediating the diurnal variation in plasma ghrelin levels.
