This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The primary hypothesis is that a program of patient education and social services, in addition to standard of care for their epilepsy, could significantly improve quality of life and help improve the epilepsy control (number of seizures as documented on 'seizure calendar'). Based on this hypothesis, our specific aim is to evaluate the effect of a structured epilepsy educational-social program in patients with epilepsy who use the emergency room for treatment.
