Abstract

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.The purpose of this study is to learn more about CMV and the things that may lead to infection. In addition to providing information about vaccine effectiveness in adolescent females, our study will provide data on risk factors for acquiring primary CMV infection in adolescent males. An additional substudy wil measure T cell levels and MHC-typing (DNA test) in a cell-mediated immune response to the vaccine.
