This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The best chance for a cure of some cancers occurs when they are detected at an early stage and appropriate surgical and adjuvant therapies are administered. Developing a test which could effectively identify early stage cancers has the potential to greatly improve patient outcomes. The goal of this study is to detect rare cells spiked in the blood of healthy donors by means of immuno-magnetic cell enrichment.
