This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This is an observational study examining dietary habits, physiologic profiles, obesity, and other risk factors for coronary artery disease among children with and without congenital heart disease. A total of 120 subjects are to be enrolled, consisting of 40 children with congenital heart disease but no clinical impairment, 40 children who do have limitations in activity, and 40 healthy control subjects. Data collection will include physician and dietician visits, blood drawing, exercise testing, body fat assessment and bioimpedance measurements, the use of an activity monitor, and parental questionnaires. This study was initiated at UCLA but will now be transferred to Harbor-UCLA. A total of 80 subjects were enrolled at UCLA including 55 subjects with congenital heart disease and 25 healthy control subjects.
