The aims of this pilot study are: 1) to prospectively evaluate the differences in early viral kinetic parameters and virologic response rates in HIV/HCV co-infected subjects compared to HCV mono-infected subjects 2) to evaluated differences in HCV quasi-species diversity in HIV/HCV co-infected subjects before and during treatment in comparison to HCV mono-infected subjects 3) to evaluate peripheral blood lymphocytes for extrahepatic site of HCV replication 4) to evaluate the HCV related immune response in HIV/HCV compared to HCV mono-infection. The hypothesis of the study is that interaction between the HIV and HCV may impair the host response to HCV therapy in HIV/HCV subjects. This project is a pilot study in preparation for a K23 submission
