Determine and compare the kinetics of blood flow and 02 delivery and utilization within young and old individuals. Determine change in 02 transport and utilization variables from beginning of training until the end achieved by young and old subjects. Determine minute blood flow response to a mild CO load and compare young and old subjects. Determine the metabolic reserve capacity when subjects are not centrally limited and compare young and old. Determine the metabolic reserve capacity when subjects are centrally limited and compare young and old. Determine the change in capillary and mitochrondrial formations before and after training in young and old subjects, determine the biochemical changes both via biopsy and MRS, and determine the angiogenic signaling processes that are active in young and old.
