This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Assess whether patients with mild Alzheimer's Disease and sleep disordered breathing will tolerate continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and be compliant with treatment. Examine the effect of CPAP on sleep disordered breathing, examine effect of CPAP treatment on cognitive functioning, examine whether improvement in cognitive functioning is greater after six weeks of CPAP than after 3 weeks of treatment, and evaluate whether caregivers feel that CPAP improves the patient's sleep, mood and overall functioning.
