Abstract

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. Examine the effect on glucose metabolism, as measured by glucose disposal rate and HbA1c, of initial use of half-maximal dose combination therapy with rosiglitazone and metformin for 16 weeks, compared with maximal doses of rosiglitazone or metformin, in subjects with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Examine the effect on cardiovascular risk factors.
