Influence of Altered Cholinergic Tone on the Hyposomatotropism of Obesity

Abstract

The diminution in GH release in healthy obese subjects results from excessive somatostatin inhibitory effects which reflect attenuated cholinergic tone. Decreased GH release can be reversed by the cholinesterase inhibitor, pyridostigmine (Mestinon).
