This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Living kidney donors from minority population are at increased risk for development of Hypertension, Diabetes, Cardiovascular and Renal complications during long term follow up compared to an appropriate control group match for age, gender, race/ethnicity. This study aims to: 1. Assemble a cohort of all individuals who donated a kidney through the University of New Mexico Transplant Services and collect their baseline characteristics at the time of kidney donation and identify an appropriate control group matched for age, gender, race/ethnicity without Hypertension, Diabetes, or Albuminuria from the NHANES database. 2. To assess: a) all deaths which occurred in this cohort through the National Death Registry; and b) cause of death through review of death certificates and medical records; Record all deaths in donor cohort including age at time of death and cause of death. 3. To assess a) surgery-related side effects, psychological issues related to kidney donation and functional status; and b) present kidney function (Glomerular filtration rate, estimated by MDRD and Cockcroft-Gault formulas, Proteinuria), risk factors(e.g. Hypertension, Diabetes, Dyslipidemia) for kidney disease and comorbidities among identified surviving members of this cohort.
