The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of yoga in improving sleep. There are three specific aims to this study; the first is to evaluate the hypothesis that the practice of yoga will yield significant improvements in the severity of sleep complaints, especially insomnia.
The second aim i s to evaluate the hypothesis that improvements in the quality of sleep following yoga practice will be correlated with a decrease in autonomic and neuroendocrine activation.
The third aim i s to evaluate the hypothesis that short-term yoga practice can yield immediate improvements in sleep onset and quality in normal subjects and those with insomnia.
