This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.The purpose of this study is to find out what the effects, good and bad, the combination of tirapazamine, cisplatin, and etoposide with radiation therapy followed the combintation of cisplatin and etoposide has on patients with small cell lung cancer. Tirapazamine is an experimental agent. The investigationsl nature of this study is the addition of tirapazamine to standard chemotherpay and radiotherapy. In addition to this treatment, the investigators will take part in establishing a lung cancer specimen bank, which will store tissues from lung cancer patient to use in current and future scientific research studies.This study is being conducted at the Hollings Cancer Center, and are asking for GCRC lab services that cannot be provided through MUSC, which is storage and sample processing for specimens requiring a refrigerated centrifuge.04/2006 There are no reports of subject enrolled at this site for this study. Recruitment is ongoing.
