This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The purpose of this study is to perform HLA(human leukocyte antigen)typing on patients with scleroderma who were enrolled in the recently completed NIH sponsored 'Multicenter Phase II Trial of Oral Bovine Type I Collagen in Scleroderma'. Since scleroderma is as uncommon disease about which little is known, the purpose is to store DNA from these scleroderma patients for future genetic studies of potential genetic abnormalities in the disease. Specimens will be sent to the University of Tennessee Health Science Center to be kept in a specimen repository. Primary site is UT. MUSC plus several other sites are under subcontract.
