This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This cross-sectional study examines the outcomes of single ventricle palliation with the Fontan procedure in adults with congenital heart disease. Our central aim is to quantify late functional status in adult congenital heart disease patients previously palliated with a Fontan procedure and determine predictors of outcome. This study is however undertaken in the context of a paucity of existing data on late outcomes in this group of patients and utilizes a sample of clinic patients from a single large congenital cardiac center. It is recognized that it is exploratory in nature.
Our aim i s to generate pilot data which will then allow confirmation of findings in a larger, more generalizable sample.
