This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This study will compare the accuracy of a new PVS impression material with an improved surfactant compared to a commercially available PVS impression material with a commercial grade surfactant. Teeth will be prepared, impressions made, ceramic onlay restorations fabricated from each PVS impression material and the restoration tried in. The marginal fit of each restoration will be assessed with the Global microscope and a digital image program. The assessment of the fit of the restoration will be used to determine the accuracy of the impression material. In addition data will be collected on the detail reproduction of both impression materials.
