This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This is a prospective observational cohort study to evaluate the effects of long term treatment with glucocorticoids and the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis in infants with hemangioma. Concern is that infants treated with high-dose glucocorticoids may develop adrenal insufficiency, either with systemic glucocorticoids or topically administered glucocorticoids. Twelve patients of each group will be studied with synthetic ACTH-testing and compared for adrenal insufficiency with 12 controls.
