Abstract

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.This study will determine the effect of the intestinal hormone, Glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) to stimulate insulin secretion in persons with type 2 diabetes and non-diabetic subjects. Specifically, the sensitivity of insulin secretion to increasing does of GLP-1 will be assessed. This study will provide information that is useful to understand the abnormalities in insulin secretion in diabetes.
