This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.We propose that intraarticular injection of EUFLEXXA into the basal joint (trapeziometacarpal joint of the thumb) will provide significant pain relief and restoration of function as compared to placebo (normal saline) for osteoarthritis of the basal joint. EUFLEXXA is 1% sodium hyaluronate and is FDA approved and in clinical use for the treatment of knee joint osteoarthritis.
