This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The primary goals of this study will be to intensively follow recipients of allogeneic blood transfusions; to obtain sufficient pre- and post-transfusion samples to ensure molecular and/or serologic detection of a wide-array of transfusion transmitted infectious agents; to collect samples of all donations linked to these recipients and to establish a repository so that samples can be rapidly recalled to test for newly emerging pathogens.
