This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. It was the goal of this study to determine whether and how antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) affect cognitive function in children and to determine whether a novel neurophysiological test of attention and memory is more sensitive to such effects than are traditional psychometric tests. The Test battery included the SAM_BFT, WASI, TEACH, CHIPASAT, Symbol Digits Modalities Test, BRIEF and CBCL. It was estimated that approximately 20 children aged between 8 and 14 years, would be seen per year . The study duration was to be 2 years.
