Biostatistics CoreA. Objectives and GoalsMany of the samples obtained and used for the proteomic research in the OMSAD sample arerecious, expensive and rare, requiring that the analysis be pertinent, reliable and convincing. Use of these,tate-of-the-science research methodologies will produce complex scientific information and several datasets, the combination of which place OMSAD researchers in a unique position to substantively advance the field ofHIV/drugs of abuse interaction, with the specific focus on neuroAIDS. This information is complex, and it isparticularly important to choose the proper candidates for further study. In addition to the complex data setsother issues include group size, and the use of technical and biological. The Biostatistics Core will be a centralized resource for guidance in the statistical design ofexperiments for data collection, provide statistical advice and preliminary analysis of high and low-throughputexperimental data, and work with OMSAD investigators to apply additional analysis methods, as desctivebelow, for the complex data sets generated.
